A lot of moms are caught between having to choose her career or her family. Most corporate moms feel guilty not having enough quality time to take care of the needs of the family. But then again, stay at home moms have the feeling they need to contribute to the family income instead of staying at home. I myself am a mom to my 4 year old Elijah and I can say that being a WAHM was the best decision I made since I had him.

Just to give you an idea, WAHMs or Work-At-Home-Moms are the new trend these days especially now that there are more moms who prefer to stay at home and take care of the family. Nevertheless, becoming a work-at-home-mom is easier said than done. There are many issues that need to be considered when deciding to leave your job and be a work at home mom. You have to look into the possibility that you may not make as much income working at home as you did when you had a career in the corporate world. On the other hand, there are numerous things that you can save on such as transportation, meals, and clothing expenses among other things.

Advantage #1. I get to work on my own flexible and productive time. Unlike the eight to five corporate working hours, when you are a work at home mom you get to choose the clients you want to work with and the time you will allot for that client just so it can fit your parenting schedule and NOT the other way around. In this manner, no one and nothing gets neglected making it beneficial for everybody, especially my son.

Advantage #2. I get to raise my son “my own way”. Nothing beats hands-on parenting. I’ve seen lots of kids who grew up with their yayas manifesting attitudes beyond imaginable such as throwing tantrums here and there and saying words you would not dare teach. In my case, I’ve seen Elijah’s every first and I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything else. I am blessed to be one of the few moms who had the priviledge to witness those moments.

Working at home doesn’t mean you lose the opportunity of having career advancement or the chance for personal growth. Instead, it will give you the satisfaction of being there for your children and bringing them up yourselves rather than entrusting them to other people. For me, this is more rewarding than the high-figured salary that I bring home from my job.
